Our Genetics
Parkdale Valais Blacknose has genetics from several top flocks in the United Kingdom.
Our first embryos imported in 2018, were from two outstanding rams, Prendwick Eros and Predwick Basil and two exceptional ewes, Prendwick Dot and Prendwick Dell_Girl, from Jamie Wood, Prendwick Farm, followed by embryos from Raymond Irvine (Valais Blacknose Scotland) and Adam Kirkbride (Cumberland Valais Blacknose) and semen from Geralt and Kerry Costello-Jones (Snowdonia Valais Blacknose). In 2023 we were lucky enough to purchase the New Zealand based Highland flock of Raymond Irvine and Wendy Artzt to expand our genetic base even more.

Parkdale George is the main stud ram we used over our ewes in 2024, he has produced some exceptional offspring.
Sire, Parkdale Eric also sired Parkdale Greta, Supreme Champion Valais at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2024.
Grand sire, Rose Creek Prinz Eugen, is the sire of Laurelhighland Bubbles, one of only three sheep graded maximum points at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show, 2023. Eugen is also the sire of Iowa Kevin, Champion Valais Ram and Reserve Supreme Champion at the same show and graded maximum points at the 2024 Show.
George’s dam, Parkdale Bubbles, is the dam of Laurelhighland Bubbles, one of only three sheep graded maximum points at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show, 2023. Parkdale Bubbles is also the dam of Iowa Kevin who won Champion Purebred Ram and Reserve Supreme Champion Valais Blacknose at the same show and graded maximum points in 2024.
Prendwick Basil and Dot are both graded maximum points twice in the UK. Eros, Hulk and King Kong graded maximum points in Switzerland.

Champion Valais Blacknose Ram and Reserve Supreme Champion Valais Blacknose at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2023. Third place in the Champion All Breeds Best Wool Breed Ram Hogget at the same show, a testament to his outstanding fleece. Flynn has a lovely stride and a spectacular fleece.
Flynn’s sire, Snowdonia Goliath, set the overall breed sale record in UK in 2021. Goliath was also Overall Reserve Champion and Overall Male Champion at Blacknose Beauties, UK 2021. His sire, Westmorland Ego and grand sire, Westmorland Dancer, both also graded maximum points whilst his dam, Gemstones May has bred several maximum points offspring. Prendwick Basil on the dam side is also graded maximum points.

Parkdale Harley is our latest up and coming stud ram, who along with Parkdale George was used for our 2025 matings.
Sire, Parkdale Flynn is Champion Valais Blacknose Ram and Reserve Supreme Champion Valais Blacknose at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2023. Third place in the Champion All Breeds Best Wool Breed Ram Hogget at the same show, a testament to his outstanding fleece. We are so excited about Harley’s dam side, Highland Imogene won her class (ewe over 30 months), with lamb at foot (Harley) at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2024. Imogene’s sire, King Kong has been graded maximum points in Switzerland. Grand sire, Highland Eric, is graded two times maximum points, one of only 4 rams in the UK to have achieved this feat. He was Overall Supreme Champion Valais at Blacknose Beauties, UK, in 2018. Highland Queen and Hulk are also both maximum points graded animals

Parkdale Elvis is a nicely marked pure Swiss ram with a gorgeous fleece and correct conformation.
Elvis brings exciting new genetics to the Parkdale stud with his sire being Snowdonia Goliath. Goliath was the Blacknose Beauties Overall Reserve Champion and Overall Male Champion in 2021, also setting a new breed sale record.
Elvis has sired some exceptional offspring both in New Zealand and in the USA. Including, Iowa Lavender Haze and Iowa Lilac, graded -1 off maximum at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show in 2024, coming first and second in their class, respectively.
Elvis’ dam is one of the first pure Valais ewes born at Parkdale (Bailey).

Parkdale Eric is a big classic Valais ram with a fully Swiss pedigree including both Prendwick and Highland genetics of maximum points lines.
Parkdale Eric is the sire of Parkdale Greta, Supreme Champion Valais at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2024.

Parkdale Crackers has impressed us from the beginning. A nicely marked, classic, well balanced Swiss Valais Blacknose ram with a beautiful fleece and great solid conformation.
Crackers, is the sire of Highland Kitty, graded maximum points and Supreme Champion Valais Blacknose at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show, 2023. Kitty is the only Valais in the USA to have been awarded maximum points for a second time at the 2024 USA National Show, also winning Champion Valais Ewe. Some of Crackers’s offspring also graded -1 at the same show, 2023.
Crackers is also the sire of Iowa Jellybean, the Overall Champion Breed-Up/Crossbred Ewe at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show, 2023.
Crackers sire, Basil, and dam, Dell-Girl, both graded maximum points in UK, as has Eros in Switzerland.
Crackers pedigree is second to none, with top maximum points graded parents on both sides of his pedigree (Prendwick Basil and Prendwick Dell-Girl) and fully Swiss genetics.

Highland Isa was Reserve Champion Valais Blacknose Ram at the New Zealand Agricultural Show 2023.
Isa’s pedigree contains a number of animals that have been graded maximum points, including Highland Queen, Highland King Kong and Hulk.
Isa is full brother to Highland Incredible Hulk, the sire of four of only ten maximum points graded sheep at Blacknose Beauties, 2024, UK, including the Reserve Male Champion, Deepdale Luca. Deepdale Luca went on to sell at auction setting a new male breed record at 22,000gns (NZ$47,000, US$29,000).
